Privacy Policy
The short version
- We collect what Fanapult needs to work: your account, your profile, the slips you add, your crew and a notification token.
- We don't collect your location, contacts, phone number, sportsbook logins, payment details or advertising ID. There are no ad or analytics trackers in the app.
- Screenshots you ask us to read go to Google's Gemini service to read the picks. We don't keep the picture, and Google doesn't use it to train its models.
- We don't sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
- You can delete your account and data in the app at any time (Settings → Account → Delete account).
1. Who we are
Fanapult ("Fanapult," "we," "us") makes the Fanapult app for iPhone and this website. Fanapult is based in Ohio, United States. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use the app, the website, and links shared from the app (together, the "Service"). Fanapult is not a sportsbook: we don't take bets or hold money.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address and, if you sign up with email, a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address (or Apple's private relay address), name and profile picture that the provider shares.
- Profile: your display name, username, optional photo and bio, the sports and teams you pick, your card color, and your settings (like who sees new slips and whether people can find you in search).
- Slips and picks: what you add to the app. That's the slip's title, the sportsbook or app it came from, and each pick (player or team, bet type, line, the game) plus any odds printed on the slip. We don't ask for, and the reader is told to skip, wager amounts, payouts and account balances.
- Screenshots and pasted text you ask us to read (see section 4).
- Crew activity: crew requests, who's in your crew, people you block, which slips you sweat, the bell settings you choose, and invites you claim.
- Reports and support messages: when you tell us a slip was read wrong, report someone, or email us.
Information created as you use Fanapult
- Grades and your record: each pick's live progress and result, your graded record, hit rate, bet types, streaks, trophies, rarity and card number. We work these out from the picks you add and each game's box score.
- Alerts: the alerts we send you and whether you've read them.
- Device and notifications: if you turn on notifications, your iPhone's push token, and your iPhone model and iOS version.
- Technical logs: like any online service, our hosting providers record technical details of requests, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. We don't use these to build a profile of you.
- Sign-up funnel counts: which onboarding steps are reached and skipped, counted without any link to your account.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your precise or approximate location, contacts, phone number, sportsbook usernames or passwords, payment card or bank details, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics or crash-reporting code, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How we use it
- To run the Service: create your account, show your slips, grade each pick from the game's box score, and keep your record.
- To send the alerts you've turned on, and crew alerts from the people you've chosen to hear about.
- To power crew features: requests, your crew's slips, sweating, profiles and invites.
- To read slip screenshots and pasted text when you ask us to.
- To keep Fanapult safe and fair: enforce limits, prevent abuse, and act on reports.
- To fix problems and improve the Service, for example by reviewing how often the reader gets a slip wrong.
- To answer you when you contact us, and to meet legal obligations.
We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it.
4. Reading your slip screenshots
When you choose screenshots (up to four) or paste a slip's text and ask Fanapult to read it:
- The app sends the image or text over an encrypted connection to our server, which sends it to Google's Gemini API to copy the picks off the slip. The app asks for your permission before the first time, and you can turn it off anytime in Settings and privacy → Privacy and sharing ("Read slips with AI").
- We use Google's paid service. Under its terms, Google doesn't use what we send to improve its products or train its models. Google may keep requests for a limited time (currently up to 55 days) to detect abuse. After that they're deleted.
- We don't store your screenshots. The picture isn't saved to our servers, storage or logs. We keep the list of picks the reader found for up to 90 days, to fix reading mistakes and measure accuracy. The slip you save is kept like any other slip.
- A screenshot can include things beyond the slip, like your sportsbook username, balance or other notifications. Crop those out if you'd rather not send them.
5. What other people can see
- Your profile can be seen by any signed-in Fanapult member you haven't blocked. It shows your display name, username, photo, bio, favorite teams, graded record (counts, hit rate, bet types, recent results as hit or miss), archetype, card rarity, member number, crew size and pinned trophies. It never shows money or odds.
- Your slips are either Just me (only you) or My crew (you and your crew). You choose the default and can switch any slip at any time. Only slips your crew can see can be pinned as trophies.
- Your crew list is only visible to people in your crew. Your crew count is visible on your profile.
- Crew alerts tell people who chose to hear about you when you post or cash a slip, using your @username. Alerts can appear on a lock screen.
- Sweating: people who can see a slip can see who is sweating it.
- Links you share: if you share a link to your profile, your invite or a crew slip, anyone with the link can see a preview. For a slip, that's whose slip it is, how many legs it has, which games and its status, but never the picks, odds or money. A slip's link stops working if you hide or delete it, switch it to Just me, or block the person opening it.
- Search: you can turn off being found by name or username in Settings.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that run Fanapult for us, under their terms, and only what each needs:
| Provider | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase (on Amazon Web Services, United States) | Database, sign-in, file storage, server functions | Everything stored in your account |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple; push notifications | Sign-in data; your push token and the alert's text |
| Sign in with Google; the Gemini API for reading slips | Sign-in data; the screenshots or text you ask us to read | |
| ESPN and MLB public data services | Game schedules, scores, box scores, player photos and clips shown in the app | Your device's IP address when the app loads game data. No account information. |
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our members or the public, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets (in which case this policy continues to apply or you'll be told otherwise).
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. How long we keep it
- Account, profile, slips, picks, crew and record: until you delete them or your account.
- Screenshots: not stored by us. Google may keep them up to 55 days for abuse detection (see section 4).
- Picks the reader found and reader usage: 90 days. "Read it wrong" reports: 180 days.
- Alerts: while your account exists, or until you delete them.
- Reports: a report, a copy of what was reported and what we did about it are kept for up to 2 years after it's closed, to handle repeat abuse. This stays even if either member deletes their account; the report is no longer linked to that account.
- Push tokens: until you sign out, delete your account, or Apple tells us the token no longer works.
- Server and security logs: for the limited time our providers keep them.
When you delete your account, we delete your account and everything linked to it from our live systems. Alerts already delivered to other members that mention your @username may remain in their alert list.
8. Your choices and rights
- See and correct: edit your profile, slips and settings in the app.
- Delete: Settings → Account → Delete account removes your account and data. If you can't sign in, see Delete your account.
- Get a copy: email us from your account's email address and we'll send you a copy of your data.
- Control what's shared: Just me slips, your default audience, search visibility, blocking, and each type of alert.
- Notifications: turn them off in the app or in iPhone Settings at any time.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what we collect, to access, correct, delete or port your information, and to opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising or profiling (we do none of these). To make a request, email support@fanapult.com from your account's email address. We'll confirm it's you and reply within 45 days. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
9. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your sign-in session is kept in your iPhone's Keychain. Our database only lets each member read and change their own information, plus what the sharing rules above allow. Results and records can only be written by our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
10. Age requirement
Fanapult is only for people who are at least 18 years old and of legal age to bet on sports where they live. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we'll delete it. Contact us if you believe that has happened.
11. Where we operate
Fanapult is offered in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
